UPDATE 5/15/13: Poppy's foster mom reports...:"Poppy is doing awesome!  I think he might be the best behaved foster that we  have ever had - even better than the adult dogs.  He is so mellow and so patient and listens so well - better than my own dog!  A stern "no" or "drop that" is all he needs and he stops whatever he is doing.  He has given us no trouble with the crate - no crying or whining when he gets put in it.  He has been sleeping from 11pm until around 6-6:30am with no accidents.  For a while he would piddle as soon as you open the crate door but that seems to have stopped.  He has been whining to go out since day one and so training has been really easy.  I only problem with potty training - and it's not a problem, he is a puppy - is that he is easily distracted by everything and sometimes "farts around" outside when you want him to go - like oh look a bug, there's a dandelion I think I'll eat it, I just heard a bird, did a car go down the street???  We go for a walk everyday and he does really well - doesn't pull, keeps up pace, etc.  He is interested in our cats and watches them but he doesn't chase them or get in their face too much.  He fetches and returns toys for you to throw again.  He is growing like weed - he was smaller than our Wrigley when we got him and is now taller.  He is in love with my husband - I think even more so than me!  And wants to be right next to him whenever we are both home!  He has played with my 5yr old niece several times - I think she has come over 4 times to see him in the week.  He is really good with her - patient with her grabbing and loving on him, not bitey or too licky, etc.
